James Christopher Hill’s Artistic Statement:

I create art in various genres because I believe in the boundless potential of artistic expression to reflect my life experiences and interests. My journey with Traditional Oil and Acrylic Fine Art Painting along with Digitally Created Illustrations is about discovering the unique ways that I can use to evoke feelings of peace and tranquility in this chaotic thing called life.  I draw and paint what my heart and soul tells me to create. I make no apologies for not sticking with one genre, one style to serve one niche’.  I personally find it boring when an artist’s hits success in one type, one style of painting and just repeats the same subject matter repeatedly throughout their career albeit with different brush strokes and painting sizes only year after year and never growing.  Isn’t that what life is about, to continue to explore and grow?

In a world that often feels chaotic and overwhelming, I seek to offer an escape to the safe havens of calmness, wonder and serenity through my work. I seek to help you imagine as well as experience various worlds from tradition Landscapes and wonderous skies to creating accurate homages to the classic Gothic Horror films of the 1930’s to the worlds Science Fiction and other genres to help you, the viewer travel in your mind to those worlds.  I hope to transmit the love and fires of wonder and imagination that I felt when creating the paintings so that you, the collector of my art can experience dreams, great memories, and serenity. At the heart of my diverse artistic practice is a deep belief in the power of art to heal and harmonize with as wide of an audience as possible for one person to create. 

In essence, my work is a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit and its search for serenity, wonder and love. Through the universal language of art, I aspire to foster a sense of connectedness and inner tranquility, offering a sanctuary where viewers can embark on a journey of personal discovery.  To invoke happy memories of your life.  I hope to cause you to realize that anything, if looked at the right way, can have a beauty of its own.
